Built to exhibition standards, this model is a true work of the model builder’s art. Construction commence in the early 1980’s with drawings and castings by Reeves and were then supplemented by considerable research and acquisition of many original documents and photographs, of both portables in preservation and pictures of them during their working life. Some of these items come with the model.

This additional research has enable the builder to construct a model which is an exact miniature replica of the full size portable and I am sure this can be seen by all the detail shown on the accompanying pictures.

The model is unfortunately not quite complete requiring minor items like the water gauge and pressure gauge fitting as well as cladding and painting. This does not detract from the fact that this is  a really high quality model.

The design for this model was started by W.J.Hughes and completed by Mr.Rod Kibby and described in Model Engineer volumes 142-145. W.J.Hughes was also the designer of the ever popular 1.5″ scale ALLCHIN traction engine model ‘ROYAL CHESTER’ of which a considerable number have been built unlike this portable of which few models exist, least of all to the high standard of this model.                                                                            £4000       IMG_2241 IMG_2242 IMG_2263IMG_2266IMG_2243 IMG_2244 IMG_2245 IMG_2246 IMG_2247 IMG_2248 IMG_2249 IMG_2250 IMG_2251 IMG_2252 IMG_2253 IMG_2254 IMG_2255 IMG_2256 IMG_2257 IMG_2258 IMG_2259 IMG_2260 IMG_2261 IMG_2262        IMG_2264 IMG_2265
