‘HOT SPOT’ A gauge ‘1’ hot air locomotive with a carriage and two trucks.

This American styled locomotive is Mr.R.Roebuck’s version of the Mr Rob Keys’ Caloric No 1 (published in Model Engineer in July 1992), which was a development of a design of hot air rail motor by MR.H.A.Barnett (published in M.E. in August 1958) . The linkage has been further developed courtesy of another Guildford club member’s expertise and now incorporates a slip return crank to allow reverse running. The model is gas fired and has a running time of over an hour on a full gas tank. I remember seeing this model running at the Guilford rally in 2000 at the base of a big wheel of track, rather like a hamster does in a wheel, and looking a little like the LONDON EYE which of course started in 2000.The carriage and two trucks are built as very light weight items for the loco to pull but are as always to Mr.Roebuck usual high standard. I hope the pictures show all the details of these models, both the locomotive, trucks and carriage, this including the one of the carriage interior with the tables and seats.

There are carry cases for each of these models and the one for the locomotive has a rolling road fitted which is also shown in the pictures. A cow catcher is also available to fit the front of the loco to complete the American look. This replaces the buffers but does not fit the case when on the model.

This is obviously something of a novelty item but I consider it to be built to an excellent  standard and therefore warrant the price i am asking. This would look quite impressive traveling round a continuous gauge ‘1’ line and something very different to the norm.                                                                                                                           £1200.00IMG_1188 IMG_1189 IMG_1190 IMG_1191 IMG_1192 IMG_1193 IMG_1194 IMG_1195 IMG_1196 IMG_1197 IMG_1199 IMG_1200 IMG_1201 IMG_1202 IMG_1203  IMG_1205IMG_1204 IMG_1206 IMG_1207 IMG_1208 IMG_1209 IMG_1210 IMG_1211 IMG_1212
